SABC committee welcomes ruling on inquiry
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Ad Hoc Committee on the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board Inquiry has welcomed the ruling by the Western Cape High Court to set aside the application to interdict the Committee from instituting an inquiry.

"The Committee is vindicated by the ruling. Established in terms of a resolution of the National Assembly to perform duties as per Section 15A (1)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Committee always believed that the interdict application brought by Prof Mbulaheni Maguvhe did not have prospects to succeed," says committee chairperson Vincent Smith.
Prof Maguvhe is the Chairperson and the only remaining non-executive member of the SABC board.
Smith says the Committee will begin the inquiry by the middle of next week, despite having lost three days.
He says he is confident that the committee will still complete its work by the deadline.
