SABC dismisses 123 employees for dishonesty
Updated | By ANA
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) on Tuesday said that 123 employees had been dismissed for dishonest behaviour relating to alleged medical aid fraud.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the dismissal of the 123 employees would take place “with immediate effect” and followed an investigation into allegations of medical aid fraud.
“Following this process, the outcome of the respective cases, was such that the Corporation was left with no other choice but to terminate the employment contracts, as the finding of guilt for dishonesty is regarded in a serious light,” he said.
Kganyago said initially, some 200 employees were implicated but that the investigations led to a reduction in this number.
The SABC’s chief operations officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng added: “The SABC remains committed to rooting out corruption and fraud and we take such cases seriously.” - ANA
