SABC inquiry hits a court snag
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Ad Hoc Committee inquiry into the SABC board has been put on hold, following an application at the Western Cape High Court launched by Prof Mbulaheni Maguvhe.
Prof Maguvhe, who is the chairperson and the only remaining non-executive member of the SABC board, wants to interdict the Committee from initiating the inquiry.
"Parliament will oppose the application and the court will listen to arguments on Friday afternoon, 2 December 2016," says committee chairperson Vincent Smith.
Smith says the committee is ready to begin with the inquiry and remains confident that the court will rule in its favour.
"We will begin the inquiry at the earliest convenience in the event the court delivers a favourable judgement," says Smith.
