SACP: Early elective conference could lead to a split in ANC
The SACP says an early elective conference, as called for by the ANC Youth League, could lead to a split in the ANC.
Speaking during a press briefing after the SACP's three day central committee meeting in Ekurhuleni, Nzimande instead called for a consultative conference to discuss issues of factionalism and succession.
He called for a consultative conference instead to discuss the issues facing the ANC such as factionalism and succession.
"We can't just be going through this all the time so a way has got to be found to better manage the transition," Nzimande said.
Nzimande also says that it's time to grow up and out-grow factional politics where the winner takes all as it won't benefit the governing party.

"We hope that the consultative conference could look at ways to avoid the winner takes it all kind of agreement," he added.
He also said that the elections should have been a wake-up call and that whoever wins at the ANC's elective conference in 2017 walks away with the shell of an organisation.
"We really do need to unite rather than factionalise ourselves," he concluded.
