SAMWU's Tshwane Regional Secretary Mpho Tladinyane says they are marching to highlight the plight of metro police officers and other municipal workers in Tshwane.

"Workers in the employ of the City of Tshwane are exposed to an employer who on daily basis unilaterally restructure and change conditions of service.

"Some of the workers are exposed to unsafe working conditions. Our members will also de delivering a memorandum of demands to the City Manager."

Tladinyane warns that licensing centres will not be open today.

"All licensing workers will be marching, so it will be advisable for people not to go to licensing centres today," Tladinyane says.

Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says SAMWU member will march from the Old Putco Bus Depot in Marabastad to Tshwane House on the corner of Madiba and Lillian Ngoyi Streets.

"We are going to deploy our metro police officials just to make sure they monitor the situation. We are expecting a peaceful march," Mahamba says.
