SANDF to hand over remains of soldier who died in Mozambique

The remains of a South African National Defence Force soldier will be handed over in a ceremony in Pretoria on Wednesday.

Sergeant Johan Andries van Rooyen passed away on Saturday after he presented with a severe headache and chest complications.
He died in Mozambique after he reported to the Mihluri base.

Spokesperson Brigadier General Andries Mokoena Mohapa says that van Rooyen’s remains will be handed over to his family at the Air Force Base in Waterkloof.
“The mortal remains will officially be handed over during a military procession ceremony at 28 Squadron, AFB Waterkloof. The ceremony will commence at 09h00, all attending must be seated by 08h45. The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise has been requested to form part of the Department of Defence officials attending the handing over ceremony.”
