SANDF soldier shot and killed in Atteridgeville

A South African
National Defence Force has confirmed the death of a soldier during a shootout
in Atteridgeville on Saturday.

Two other soldiers were wounded during the incident.
SANDF spokesperson Andries Mahapa says the soldiers were off duty at the time of the shooting.
“The members were out in Atteridgeville for social activities.
“The shooting resulted in the death of one soldier and the injury of two soldiers, who were then transported to 1 Military Hospital in Thaba Tshwane for further treatment and are recovering well.
“We are currently not sure about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but the South African Police Service is investigating the incident. The deceased’s name will be confirmed once the next of kin has been notified.”
