Sanef appoints new executive director
Updated | By Lonwabo Miso
The SA National Editors' Forum on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mathatha Tsedu as executive director.

"The appointment is a result of a secondment deal between Sanef and Media24, who are Tsedu's employers," Sanef said in a statement.
"Tsedu is a former chairperson of Sanef and the continental body of editors, The African Editors' Forum. He has held top positions in a number of publications and broadcast media."
Tsedu's former positions include deputy editor of The Star, the Sunday Independent, and editor of the Sunday Times.
The appointment would be for at least a year. Tsedu serves on a number of boards, including the African Media Initiative and the Council for the Advancement of the SA Constitution.
He was project director for the Press Freedom Commission, an industry body, and was part of the task group on government communications that resulted in the formation of the Government Communication and Information System.
Sanef thanked former acting executive director Elizabeth Barratt for helping to strengthen the organisation's administration over the past few months.
