SANParks ranger arrested for selling live pangolin

A South African National Parks ranger has been arrested for trying to sell a live pangolin.

The ranger was part of a group of four suspects who were nabbed by law enforcement authorities for allegedly stealing the endangered species.
SANParks spokesperson Ike Phaahla says the ranger is based at the Letaba section of the park.

"Investigations are ongoing and the arrested will be formally charged and named in due course. The operation was initiated by SANParks after information was received on the impending illegal sale of the pangolin. It was however a collaborative effort from a number of dedicated and committed individuals which secured the arrest."
The three suspects will appear in court soon.
