South African National Parks (SANParks) has managed to avert a planned strike by unions on Friday.
The Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of South Africa (Hospersa) threatened to shut down all national parks following collapsed wage negotiations with the tourism giant earlier this month.
Hospersa, which is the majority trade union at the South African National Parks (SANParks), has called of all industrial action following an agreement signed on Wednesday.
SANParks spokesperson Rey Thakhuli says that the majority unions have agreed to an 8% salary hike.

“The parties agreed and signed an 8% salary increase with improved benefits which brings to end any stipulation around any intended strike or protest which was due to happen tomorrow.”
Although the parties have reached a resolution, Hospersa is set to face SANParks in the Labour Court over public holiday and Sunday remunerations.
