Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Gauteng police arrested 92 people for driving under the influence of alcohol at the weekend.
107 people were arrested for possession of drugs and 12 more for possession of unlicensed firearms.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the crackdown forms part of the festive season safety campaign.
"Roadblocks, stop and search operations form part of the festive season operations by police and all other law enforcement agencies. The operations were conducted in Tshwane East, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and the West Rand."
He says the suspects are due to appear in various magistrates courts on Monday.
The operations will continue throughout the festive season.
Temporary base camps will also be set up in strategic areas to allow police to respond quicker to incidents of crime.
