SAPS probing deaths of two Eskom workers
Updated | By ANA
The SA Police Service (SAPS) is investigating the deaths of two Eskom workers who died in mysterious circumstances this week, Eskom said on Saturday.
“It is with great sadness that Eskom announces the untimely deaths of two workers who passed on this week while on duty,” the parastatal said in a statement.
Both workers were employees of Eskom contractors – one at the still under construction Medupi Power Station near Lephalale in Limpopo, and the other at Duvha Power Station near Witbank in Mpumalanga.
“The one worker was found dead in an idling work truck at change of shift this morning [Saturday] at a coal stockyard at Medupi, while the other worker was found dead in his office at the Duvha Power Station on Wednesday this week.”
Eskom management had been in contact with the workers’ families and the SAPS was investigating both cases.
Eskom extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the dead workers.
