The South African Police Service says it has security plans in place for the anti-immigrant march in the Pretoria CBD on Friday.

According to a statement security forces have put measures in place to ensure that the march is peaceful.
"As scores of people are expected to march through the streets of Tshwane, members of various law enforcement agencies will be deployed along the route and at the venue where memorandums are expected to be handed over to identified recipients," police says in a statement.
Police have reiterated their call for peace, safety and stability and says they will do everything in their power to prevent criminal elements from surfacing during the march.

"We would like to take this opportunity to urge all people participating in this protest action to do so in a peaceful manner. Those taking part should also note that the carrying of dangerous weapons is prohibited and those who decide to do so will likely face criminal prosecution," police says.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officers have also been urged to exercise maximum restraint while carrying out their duties.
"Criminal behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances while any form of hate speech, intolerance or incitement to violence will be rejected," police says.
