The Electoral Commission of SA (IEC), escorted by six police vehicles, arrived just before 8am on Wednesday.

Voting was meant to start at 7am, and residents expressed anger at the delay.

Johannes Ledwaba said: "I got up early to come and vote. I am disappointed because I was told there was no way I can vote now."

After their arrival, the IEC officials appeared to be making plans to erect their tent.

SA Police Service and Ekhurhuleni metro police officers took up positions on both sides of the road in the township to keep a watchful eye on proceedings.
