Saray Khumalo is expected to arrive t the Mount Everest base camp late on Saturday according to her close friend, Erika Gibson.

Khumalo on Thursday fulfilled her dream by becoming the first black African woman to summit Everest, the highest peak in the world, after her first three attempts failed.
Gibson has been tracking Khumalo since she began climbing the peak and says Khumalo is doing well. Khumalo expected to be at base camp later on Saturday, where she will regroup before making her journey back to South Africa.
"The last time I checked she was just about to enter the Khumbu icefall, which is a very dangerous area, it’s the area where there are ladders over the ice cracks,” said Gibson.
“It’s a challenging part just to make it back to base camp. But she was making very fast progress down.”
Tragedy struck on Friday when two of Khumalo's team members passed away while descending with another missing, presumed dead.
