Sars removes certain forms, drop boxes at branches
Updated | By Neo Motloung
As the country approaches tax season the South African Revenue Service (SARS) says it will remove drop boxes for the submission of income tax returns and other paper documents.
The revenue service hopes the drive will encourage taxpayers to use eFiling for all tax transactions.
The revenue service's Janine Mqulwana says eFiling accommodates most tax transactions.
"We are encouraging taxpayers this year to go digital, to use eFiling which is the most convenient and easiest system to file tax returns," says Mqulwana.
From July 1, Sars will also no longer provide specific printed forms at its branches.
Mqulwana adds taxpayers who are used to filing their tax returns manually will be moved to the digital platform at the various branches.

Mqulwana says it is unnecessary for taxpayers to stand on long queue when eFiling is available 24 hours a day.
"At any point, they can go on eFiling and file at their own convenience."
