Sars suspends controversial IT boss
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
The South African Revenue Services (Sars) has suspended a fifth executive, Mmamathe Makheke-Mokhuane, pending a disciplinary process into alleged misconduct.
The taxman's chief officer of digital, information and technology was placed on indefinite leave earlier this year.
In a statement, the tax agency says: "This is part of an ongoing comprehensive review of the whole SARS leadership by the Commissioner in terms of good governance."
Makheke-Mokhuane made headlines last year during an interview where she failed to give coherent answers to questions about Sars’ crumbling IT infrastructure.
The statement added that the suspension does not amount to findings of wrongdoing.
