SA's Covid-19 death toll closes in on 30 000, as cases climb by over 15 000

The Department of Health says coronavirus infections have increased by 15 002 since its last daily report.
This brings the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases in the country to 1 088 889.
Meanwhile, the death toll stands at 29 175, with 288 new coronavirus-related deaths reported.
Of these deaths, the majority (111) were reported in the Western Cape, followed by 92 in the Eastern Cape, and 39 in Gauteng.

There are currently 162 010 active cases in South Africa and the recovery rate stands at 82,4%.
