The Post Office briefed the media in Pretoria on Thursday.

Board chairperson Colleen Makhubela said the Post Office has made strides when it comes to improving governance.

“As part of our fiduciary duty, the board has instructed management to review all contracts that are currently running in the Post Office. Most contracts run for three years and over such a long period, much can change.”

The Post Office took over from CPS last year as the administrator of social grants.

"You may ask are the grant payments better of now with Sapo being the administrator or with the previous administrator?” Makhubela asked.

"Of course yes the Sassa grants are better. First, we have provided beneficiaries a choice - this is a basic human right. Previously beneficiaries had to present themselves at a specific day at a pay point to get their grants.

"Now they can it lets them choose how they want to be paid.”

Makhubela also vowed that recipients will always receive their social grants timeously.
