Save SA’s alternative SONA
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Civil organisation Save South Africa is holding it calls the real State of the Nation Address, ahead of the official opening of parliament tomorrow.
Save South Africa has in the past called for President Jacob Zuma to step down, and said this morning that the call remains the same.
The campaign says it wants to hold government leaders accountable to the constitution and the values they pledged to uphold as representatives of the people.
The youth also added their voice to Save SA’s alternative State of the Nation Address by demanding change in South Africa.
Issues of a functional, solid and stable democracy as well as the lack of access to basic resources have been called into question.
“Among many of the promises that President Jacob Zuma made during his previous SONA address is that of curbing wasteful expenditure. What we have seen is the addition of more wasteful expenditure scandals,” the meeting heard.
Executive Secretary of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution, Lawson Naidoo says the political leadership of South Africa is "afraid of the people."
