The South African Weather Service on Sunday issued a Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over central parts of the country.

Large parts of the country experienced heavy rains over the weekend.
The showers come after weeks of prolonged heatwaves.
Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane said the warning has been issued for Sunday and Monday only.
“We are looking at 30% chance of thundershowers in the low veld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo. However, we are expecting 60% chance of rainfall over the remaining parts of the provinces as well as in the northern parts of Gauteng.
“In the southern parts of Gauteng, Free State and North West we are expecting an 80% chance of thundershowers today as well as tomorrow. With that we are expecting a level 4 for disruptive rainfall in these areas.
“We are also expecting a level 2 of severe rainfall in the parts where we are having a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers. This warning will persist until tomorrow (Monday)."
Chiloane said temperatures will begin to warm-up from Tuesday going to the weekend.
“Going on to Tuesday, we will start to see a decrease in rainfall. We will be looking at a maximum of 30% chance of showers and thundershowers from Tuesday onwards."
