SCA dismisses Zuma appeal on removal of Downer

An appeal by former president Jacob Zuma on an earlier dismissal of his attempt to remove prosecutor Billy Downer from his corruption case has been given the short shrift by the Supreme Court of Appeal.
The Bloemfontein court found Zuma’s appeal would have no reasonable prospect of success, paving the way for the start of the corruption case. legal appeal has been dismissed in the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA).
Zuma is due back in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on 11 April.
The application has been dismissed with costs.

Late last year, Zuma approached the SCA after his special plea application was dismissed by the high court.
The former president believes Downer is biased and has accused him of leaking confidential documents to the media.
The charges against Zuma is linked to alleged corruption during the arms deal in the late 1990s.
