School officially over for some matrics
Updated | By MornéJK
Some 12 000 pupils at independent schools have received their matric results.

They boast a 98.67 percent pass rate for this year, but the percentage of pupils who achieved entry to study at the Higher Certificate Level has declined.
Independent Examinations Board CEO, Anne Oberholzer, says there has also been a decline in the amount of pupils obtaining entry towards studying for a diploma.
"The 2016 exams went very well indeed. The pass rate is slightly up while learners who achieved a bachelor degree pass increased by 2% to 87.59%," she says.

11 022 full-time and 703 part-time candidates from 237 examination venues across South Africa wrote the IEB National Senior Certificate examinations.
"Umalusi monitored all aspects of the 2016 examination process and declared the results as fair and valid. The 2016 IEB examinations have been conducted without any incidents that challenge the integrity of the process or the credibility of the results," the IEB says.
Quality Assurer, Umalusi, has also approved the results of public schools despite a pending investigation into leaked exam papers in Limpopo and Gauteng.
