Scores of lost children found at Durban beaches still not collected by parents: FESMAC
Since the start of the festive season, more than 9000 wristbands have been handed out to children at Durban's beaches - to assist them should they get separated from their parents or guardians.
eThekwini's Festive Season Management Committee (FESMAC) says yesterday alone saw 112 children being taken to their lost children facility.
The Committee's Sbusiso Mkhwanazi says dozens of lost children have still not been claimed or collected by their families.
"Of that number, 31 have not been connected to the parents, and they are at the Clare Ellis Brown Pre-Primary in Addington, and we hope that by the end of the day, they will be linked to their parents," he said.

Mkhwanazi says compared to the previous long weekends - the number of people who visited Durban's beaches over the Christmas long weekend had tripled.
"They've been so busy, such that we've had to ask our beachgoers not to go to certain beaches - like South Beach - as there is no parking - because of the numbers of people that we have," he said.
