Search and rescue official drowns in KZN

A search and rescue official has drowned while on duty in KwaZulu-Natal.
The details surrounding the incident that happened in in Pietermaritzburg are still unknown.
“We can confirm that the official drowned while in operations, he was taken to hospital but succumbed to the incident,” says a spokesperson for the Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN Nonala Ndlovu.
“We are not yet sure where the member was stationed at.”
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala is expected to provide more details during his briefing on Sunday afternoon.
He is also set to update the death toll following floods that displaced thousands of people.
