Johannesburg emergency services on Monday continued their search for a Joburg woman who was swept away by flash floods on Friday evening.
The woman was driving on Rivonia Road, near Witkoppen, when the vehicle she was travelling in was swept into the Sand River.
The vehicle was located, but the woman was suspected to have been swept down the river in the flash floods.
"The search of a woman who was allegedly swept away by flashfloods on Friday evening continued on Sunday morning in Sunninghill. The team started the search in Sunninghill at the point of the incident. The team has been busy throughout the weekend, focusing on nearby areas like Steyn City and Norkem Farm. No recovery has been made so far," said EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo.
"EMS continues to urge the residents of Johannesburg to please be extra cautious when driving during this rainy period. Please ensure that you stay clear of areas usually prone to flooding. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads and streams.”
