Search for possible owners of West Rand lions underway
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Wildlife authorities on the West Rand are trying to make contact with a person they suspect could be the owner of five lions that have been roaming Fochville.

Teams set up a bait trap for a young male lion last night only to discover what they suspect could be a pride being lead by a dominant male.
The young male was initially believed to be alone after it was spotted on CCTV footage walking past a Fochville resident's gate.
The Captured in Africa Foundation's Drew Abrahamson says they received information from a local farmer of a man who owns lions in the area.
"So we've got his name and phone number and we are actually gonna...give him a call a little bit later on this morning and find out exactly whereabout he is and if he's missing any of his cats," says Abrahamson.
So far no one has come forward to claim responsibility for the animals.
Abrahamson adds they are now making arrangements for the necessary equipment to try capture the lions.
"So we need extra vets, extra meds and crates and all of that stuff to move forward," explains Abrahamson, "and we'll just go through the same process tonight as what we did last night."
Authorities have so far been unable to capture any of the animals.
