Security guards injured during cash heist

Two security guards have been injured during a cash-in-transit heist that took place at the Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg in southern Johannesburg on Monday.

Police spokesperson Jeff Phora says the heist took place before midday leaving one security guard seriously injured.
"An unknown number of men attacked a G4S security vehicle making away with an undisclosed amount of cash," says Phora.
"A couple of shots were fired and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, as a result two security officers were shot at."
Phora adds that the security guard, belonging to the complex was shot in the upper body, but is currently in hospital.

It is alleged that the suspects used two getaway vehicles.
"The suspects fled the scene with a white double cab and a Ford SUV, both vehicles took different directions when they fled the scene," adds Phora.
Police could not confirm the number of suspects involved, however they are investigating.
