Serero case postponed

The case against Owen Serero, allegedly linked to the attempted murder of investigators in the case against Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir, was postponed on Monday, the SABC reported.

The matter was postponed in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court to June 2 for further investigation.
According to the report, the court heard that the state needed a postponement as it was still awaiting the results of the DNA sample sent to the forensic laboratory.
Serero's lawyer Tshega Ntaki had requested that his client be moved back to Johannesburg Central Prison from Pretoria Police station.
Ntaki said the food in Pretoria was not of Serero's dietary requirements.
Magistrate Simon Radasi denied the request saying Serero had no medical problem to request special food.
In his last appearance Radasi ruled that he be moved from Johannesburg Central Prison to Pretoria Police Station.
This was because the investigating officer Sifiso Xulu had told the court they had difficulties finding Serero in Johannesburg because they did not have access to the facility.
The court also heard that Serero was found in possession of five cellphones and two hacksaws while in custody.
Serero faces three charges of robbery, two of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, three of motor vehicle theft, one of contravening traffic laws, one of interfering with an investigation, and one of escaping from custody.
He was also part of a group of people arrested in connection with the attempted murder of the investigators of Krejcir's case.
