Seven people were killed when their vehicle collided head on with a truck on the R555 near Middelburg on Monday evening, the Mpumalanga community safety department said.

"All seven occupants including two children, one aged between two and three, and another one estimated to be two months old, died instantly," spokesman Joseph Mabuza said.
The accident happened on a road between Middelburg and Stofberg.
Mabuza said a sedan lost control and collided with an oncoming truck when it attempted to overtake another truck on a single lane.
The two occupants of the truck were not hurt.
MEC Vusi Shongwe sent his condolences to the families of seven people, said Mabuza.
"MEC Shongwe is shocked and emphasised that drivers must adhere.
