Seventeen in court for running illegal gas filling station

Seventeen suspects are expected to appear in the Roodepoort and Johannesburg magistrates’ courts on Friday in connection with illegal gas.
They are facing charges of fraud for allegedly selling illegal gas cylinders filled with illicit gas.
"During the sting operation on Thursday, the investigation team recovered the R2800 entrapment cash and seized the gas cylinders," says Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu.
"Further investigation led the investigation team to premises in Langlaagte where a search and seizure warrant was executed, and sixteen additional suspects were apprehended.
Mulamu says the suspects were allegedly processing a fully-operation illicit gas filling station without accreditation by gas cylinder companies.
"Amongst other items seized for investigation, police confiscated over 500 gas cylinders in different sizes worth approximately half a million rand. The investigation continues, and more arrests cannot be ruled out," added Mulamu.
