Film, television and theatre icon Shaleen Surtie-Richards will be honoured with a category 2 special provincial funeral.
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde wrote to President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week, calling for a send-off fit for the industry darling.
The 66-year-old died in a Cape Town guesthouse on Monday while filming Arendsvlei, a telenovela for kykNET.
Earlier this week, fellow actor and friend Lizz Meiring revealed that the diabetic actress also suffered from lung problems but couldn't afford private healthcare when she fell ill.
She will be laid to rest in Cape Town on Sunday.
Surtie-Richards is best known for her television roles on shows such as 'Generations', '7de Laan' and Egoli', as well as for playing Fiela in the film 'Fiela se Kind'.
"I can think of no better way to honour someone who has contributed so much to our province and country's creative community and industry," said Winde.
"The nation has lost a giant who will be remembered for her immense talent and contribution."
During her career, she won more than 40 awards and acted in numerous movies and festivals in South Africa and London.
