Shock at brutal killing of senior Limpopo transport official
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
The police in Limpopo have offered a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the murder of the province’s deputy director of transport, Marks Rambau.
Rambau's body was dumped and set alight near the new Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane.
The provincial police’s Motlafela Mojapelo says officers were summoned by a security guard who works at an office park next to the stadium.
"Rambau was reported missing four days ago until it was established that the partially burned body discovered by the police was his," says Mojapelo.
"The police are offering a reward of up to R50 000 for any information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for the murder.”
Limpopo's MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje, has expressed her shock at the brutal killing.
"The MEC's has always known Marks Rambau as a committed government employee who was humble and unselfish," says spokesperson, Matome Moremi Taueatsoala.
"Throughout his lifespan in the department, he volunteered his energies and strength to the well-being of Limpopo’s people.
"His footprint in the department of transport will remain forever."
The motive for the killing is unknown.
