Mohwase was found guilty of raping his 60-year-old mother.
Mohwase was arrested in July 2021 after he walked into his home, where he found his mother in the kitchen and dragged her to the bedroom.
After the incident, the mother escaped and reported the matter to the police.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Henry Mamothame said Mohwase pleaded guilty to the offence.
“In aggravation of sentence, the state prosecutor, Patricia Matlala, argued that the matter created a lot of shock to the victim, family and the community at large.
“She urged the court to also consider the seriousness of the offence committed. Magistrate Gilbert Sono agreed with the state and expressed disgust at the accused for his actions.”
