Shortcomings have derailed our vision - Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the vision of creating a better life for all South Africans has been hampered by some of our shortcomings.

Ramaphosa spoke at the National Freedom Day celebrations in Middelburg, Mpumalanga on Wednesday.
“That vision has been blurred over time by developments of forward movement and backward movement, but much as we have had such as corruption, state capture, policies that may have taken us where we don’t want to be, we are determined to rebuild that vision," the president said.
Ramaphosa said the country faced some unbelievable challenges over the past two years.
“Two million lost their jobs because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the July unrest last year, then unemployment rate increased and as we thought we are getting better the floods happened.”
Ramaphosa also reiterated his warning over the rising tide of anti-immigrant sentiments taking hold in some parts of the country.
