Shortlist for Public Protector position to be discussed
Updated | By MornéJK
Deliberations on last week's interviews for the position of South Africa's Public Protector will take place today.

A statement from the Ad Hoc committee, tasked with finding a replacement for Thuli Madonsela, confirmed that the deliberations will take place at lunch time today in Parliament's Committee Room.
Committee Chairperson Dr Makhosi Khoza says this meeting is expected to reflect on each interviewee's performance so as to
enable the Committee to reduce the number of candidates for consideration, from 14 to possibly five.
Dr Khoza also said a meeting to decide on the ultimate candidate for recommendation to the National Assembly will have to be scheduled sometime next week.
"We would not be doing justice to the process if we want to reflect on all the 14 candidates tomorrow and at the same time want rush to choose the preferred candidate by tomorrow already," he said.
The Committee will shortlist some candidates before the meeting on the 31st of August where one name will be recommended to the National Assembly.
