SIU accepts offer for Bryanston home of Tsotsi star Terry Phetho
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Bryanston home of award-winning actress Terry Phetho has been sold after it was auctioned as part of efforts to recover losses suffered by the National Lottery Commission.
The house, which was allegedly built with funds siphoned from the lottery commission, was put up for auction earlier this month.
The auction comes some five months after the High Court in Pretoria granted the Special Investigating Unit a preservation order to freeze nine luxury properties, including the Tsotsi star's Joburg home.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that home had been bought for R3,9 million on Thursday.
“We can indicate that today (Thursday) as the SIU that we got information from the auctioneer that there were a lot of offers and that the highest offer that was brought was about R3,9 million and we accepted the offer as a client, the house was sold by the asset forfeiture unit and we are the client and we had to approve that and that was approved and the house was sold. They money will come back through the SIU and we will then take the money back to the National Lotteries.”
