Six arrested, officer killed in Hillbrow heist
Police have confirmed that six suspect were arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit heist in Hillbrow on Thursday.
"While forensic investigations at the crime scene continues , we can report that so far six suspects have been arrested , two of whom were wounded in the shoot-out," said the police's Brenda Muridili.
The suspects attacked a cash van at around lunchtime on Thursday, firing several shots and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Muridlil says when officers pursued the suspects they started firing shots at the police. One officer was killed during the shoot-out.
Two security guards and two bystanders were also wounded.
Police have recovered seven firearms and three vehicles.
