Six killed in Valentine’s Day accidents

Valentine’s Day in KwaZulu-Natal was marred by a number of road accidents which claimed the lives of at least six people.
KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said one person died in Edendale near Pietermaritzburg when a car overturned.
Another person died on the R617 near Mendel in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands when another car overturned, while in Pietermaritzburg a pedestrian was fatally injured after being knocked down on Church Street. RTI officials at the scene said the motorist had not stopped after the accident.
On the N3 near Hammarsdale? between Durban and Pietermaritzburg another car overturned, claiming the life one person.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Service spokesman Robert McKenzie said two people ?died on the R61 in Glenmore Beach, about 25km south of Margate.
The two died in a head-on collision, while another two people were taken to hospital.
