Six nabbed in Midrand for truck hijacking

The police in Gauteng have arrested six suspects in connection with the hijacking of a courier truck transporting cell phones.
It is alleged that the four men opened fire on the security escorting the truck before hijacking the vehicle.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says the goods were recovered on Wednesday.
"The security guard took cover and gave the suspects away. Police followed up the information which led to the recovery of the stolen goods and the truck in Phomolong.”
He adds: "The driver and the crew were dropped in Kempton Park and later brought to the Midrand Police Station to open a case."
Meanwhile, one suspect was arrested in Midrand for hijacking a truck in Alberton.
Police are hunting for four suspects who fled the scene.
The suspects are set to appear in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court soon.
