Erasmus has been hailed for his stewardship of the national team and has said that the Rugby World Cup final would be his final game as coach of the Springboks.
Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, has paid tribute to former coach Rassie Erasmus on his birthday in a heart-warming Instagram post.
Both Kolisi and Erasmus are expected back in South Africa on Tuesday evening following a victorious Rugby World Cup in Japan.
In his social media post, Kolisi wrote: "I can’t thank you enough for everything! You believed in me when I was still in school, worked under you at Western Province & now we are sharing this moment forever! Uliqhawe lamaqhawe Mqeqeshi Rassie!".
The latter part of his post translates to: "You are a hero among heroes, Coach Rassie."

Erasmus has been hailed for his stewardship of the national team and has said that the Rugby World Cup final would be his final game as coach of the Springboks.
After the Springboks' victory in that game, Erasmus paid tribute to Kolisi, who marked his 50th cap with the biggest prize of all, and was hugged by his tearful father after the trophy presentation.
"It's easy to talk about going through hard times and struggling to get opportunities," said Erasmus.
"But then you think about it clearly. At one stage Siya didn't have food or shoes to go to school, and now he's led South Africa to the World Cup - that should sum up what Siya is."
