Slow start to second 'back to school' day in Vuwani
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The distribution of mobile classrooms, to assist in the displacement of thousands of Vuwani schoolchildren after the torching of schools two weeks ago, is progressing slowly.
The Limpopo Department of Education's Naledzani Rasila said they've asked teachers and principals to be at school on Tuesday so that government officials can discuss the plan of action.
"There are nine mobile classrooms out of the total that have arrived and will be dispatched to three schools in Vuwani today," Rasila said.
While some schools in Vuwani remain empty, learners in Maligana Secondary school made their way to class.
Teachers and pupils went to school yesterday to clean up the damage caused by the unrest.
Principal Angeline Mudau said she was determined to resume lessons, regardless of the few learners.
Mudau said a study camp has been arranged for Grade 12 learners from the school.
"I hope by the weekend things will be back to normal so we can, from Friday to Sunday, try and catch up," she said.
