Soldier killed in Erand crash

A soldier was killed in a motorcycle accident while escorting a VIP in Kempton Park on Tuesday, the SA National Defence Force said.

 

Spokesman Brig-Gen Xolani Mabanga said the soldier lost control of his motorcycle while escorting the VIP from OR Tambo International Airport. "The deceased was a member of the military police VIP escort team assigned to escort VIP officials from the airport. He was on official duty." Mabanga said his name would be disclosed after his family had been informed. He did not want to disclose the VIP's name.
