Solly Msimanga elected Tshwane mayor
The DA's Solly Msimanga has been elected Tshwane's new mayor.
He was elected unopposed at the city's inaugural council meeting on Friday afternoon.
The DA has also taken up the positions of Speaker with Rachel Katlego Mathebe and Chief Whip with Christian Van Der Heever, both elected into the position unopposed.
No party managed to win an outright majority in the recent local government elections, but with the help of smaller opposition parties, the DA has taken control of the capital city.

Msimanga delivered his first speech as mayor, but got off to a shaky start when the ANC heckled the newly elected mayor.
ANC members joined hands as Msimanga started his address, with one councillor telling Msimanga that he did not win.
Msimanga, however, told the ANC not to be a bad loser.
"I would love to ask the member of the ANC never be bad losers, it doesn't flair very well. I think you can learn a thing or two about humility. Be humble. This is why you came number two, because you refuse to be humble. Humble yourself," he said.
