“On 29 December 2020 the members of community continued with the search which led them to the long-drop toilet which is situated on the deceased yard.
“They discovered that there was sand covered on the already functioning toilet. The community members removed the walls of the toilet and began digging. While digging they noticed some clothing items including some bedding items which was also followed with an usual smell. They then stopped digging and called the police,” she explains.
The police and the rescue team discovered the body.
They then went to the victim’s home,
“Everything looked like was in order except the bedding, which was removed from the bed, which could confirm that were same clothing items that were found in the toilet.
“According to the neighbours, they stated that the deceased was living with her long lost son who only returned about six months before the deceased died.”
The victim’s son, who police believe killed his mother for her stokvel money, was arrested on March 20.
