A Pretoria couple has appeared in court for the murder of a man in Soshanguve last year.

Sibusiso Mahlangu (33) and Lerato Mahlangu (32) in appeared in the Soshanguve Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
They are facing charges of premeditated murder, defeating the administration of justice and fraud.
It is understood that in January 2022, the couple allegedly killed a man and burnt his body at their house in Soshanguve in January 2022.
They then faked the death of the husband to allow the woman to claim insurance policies.
"Thereafter, it is further alleged that the wife Lerato, obtained a fraudulent death certificate from the Department of Home Affairs, claiming that her husband Sibusiso, died in the fire and later claimed life policies," said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.
"The couple was arrested for this matter on 20 April 2023, after the husband was found in possession of a stolen car in Hammanskraal.
"Upon his arrest and processing, it was discovered that he was registered as deceased, and will be appearing on 29 May 2023, for the Hammanskraal matter at Hammanskraal Magistrate's Court."
The murder case has been postponed to 18 May for a formal bail application.
