South Africans 50 and over to receive Covid-19 jab in July

Acting Minister of Health Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane has announced that South Africans over the age of 50 will be able to get their Covid-19 jabs from 15 July.
They will also be able to register for a vaccine from Thursday.
Kubayi-Ngubane gave an update on Covid-19 and the government’s vaccine rollout campaign on Friday morning.
"I am pleased to announce that Inter-Ministerial Committee on vaccines approved that from the 1st of July 2021, we will open registrations for all citizens which are between the ages of 50 years and above,' said Kubayi-Ngubane.
"We will also schedule those vaccinations to begin on the 15th of July and I encourage all the citizens to register to get the vaccine."
Government has to date vaccinated more than 2.5 million people, including 50,000 people in the education sector per day, since the programme started.
Gauteng remains the epicentre driving the third wave and reported 9 521 new infections on Thursday.
