Spar trouble over live sheep
Updated | By Catrine Malan
The East London SPCA has opened a case with the Butterworth Police against role players in what it describes as a 'cruel and inappropriate competition to win a live sheep.'

Andries Venter of the NSPCA farm animal protection unit says the animal was tied up and displayed as a prize in the Fuller Street TOPS SPAR in Butterworth last month.
He says it had no freedom of movement or access to water, and that a notice had also been placed on the side of the animal with the competition details.
Spar Eastern Cape head office says it has been made aware of the incident and is investigating the matter.
