The ANC announced on Sunday morning that it's called the special NEC meeting to be held at the St George's Hotel in Irene at 2pm on Monday afternoon.

Spokesperson Pule Mabe remains tight lipped about the agenda.

"At this stage we are unable to speak any further about that."

The meeting comes amidst rising anxiety and impatience amongst ANC members and South Africa at large about the talks to secure an exit for the President.

Mabe maintains on Sunday morning, there are no developments worthy of a comment.

"During this time, we have been quite available and flexible ourselves to make sure that when there are any developments that require us to communicate, we do so at once."

This is the second time in one week the ANC called for such a special NEC meeting. However, the meeting supposed to have taken place last Wednesday, was called off at the eleventh hour when ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa issued a statement in which he said a decision on the President's fate would be announced in coming days.

ANC National Chairperson Gwede Mantashe called for calm and patience when he addressed supporters in Mpumalanga on Saturday afternoon.

"Where we want to be, there is no disagreement. That in itself is a good starting point. The tactics is the responsibility of leadership."

Speculation has it that the President is demanding the state pays his legal fees for current and pending court cases. He is allegedly also seeking full security for himself and his family.
