Speedster arrested for clocking 239km/h

A 37-year-old man has been arrested by the Gauteng Traffic Police's High Speed Unit for driving almost 240 km/h on the R21, earlier this week.
The man was caught travelling at a high speed in his Mercedes Benz and told officers he didn't notice he had exceeded the limit because his car was moving so fast.
According to Gauteng Traffic Police the man was arrested on the spot and taken to the Lyttelton Police Station where formal charges of reckless and negligent driving were opened against him.

"An alternative charge of exceeding the general speed limit of 120km/h has also been opened against the suspect," Gauteng Traffic Police confirm.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court soon.
